The Crumb Museum thanks John Clayton & Carolyn Clayton Belknap for the scan of this drawing and story below:

"When searching through my father's basement for some wrapping paper, I came across a framed sketch, pencil on paper, of the house I grew up in back in 1955-1964 in Dover, Delaware. My friend Michael Rich, a published artist, said, "Look, it is signed 'R. Crumb!" So I asked my father who had done this and here is his story:

"Johnnie, one day back in the 1960 this scrawny teenager came to our door at 645 N. Governor's Ave. in Dover and asked your mother if he could sketch the house. She said 'yes'and gave him $10 when he finished it.

(Note: This custom-built house, which would now be called 'mid-century modern,' really stood out in a city known for its Colonial architecture)."
